Planning Commission Agenda, 2025-07-24
The municipal agenda for the Planning Commission meeting on 2025-07-24 is 👉here👈
201 Market Ave. SW
It is signage time for the amphitheater!
Aside: Normally signage requests are not documented or critiqued on this BLOG. Signage ordinances being something even I lack sufficient nerd mojo to be interested in. But this agenda item does contain some updated renderings of the amphitheater.
Not covering signage policy is not to say it is not important. Signage regulations are what prevent the city from resembling a scene out of bad Blade Runner knock-off where every building is wrapped in luminescent advertisements for online casinos, crypto-currency scams, and that @^$&^@*&@ emu from Liberty Mutual commercials. The regulations at least prevent late-stage capitalism from being as ugly as it is banal and lazy.
If we are to have unaccountable corporate overlords, why can't they at least build something useful? Because none of them have done a real day's labor and therefore do not understand how to actually create anything? Perhaps.
Once upon a time "Grand Action" did express an interest in transportation infrastructure, but that was now a decade ago. Today they build revenue generating venues which do not even include a bus stop.
However, astronauts will be able to identify the amphitheater's corporate sponsor from outer space! 🙄

1362 Leonard St NW / 1364 Leonard St NW
This, keeping the theme of the last several agendas, is a rezoning and parcel split-and-union to align the bureaucratic record with the practical use of the property. In this case a single-unit residential property is partially occupied by gravestones, as well as having a garage and driveway which encroaches upon the dead. The southern edge of the property will be moved north to an existing backyard fence, the resulting area will be added to 1364 Leonard. At the same time the western edge of 1362 Leonard will be slid west to entirely encompass the existing garage and driveway, with the dead releasing their claim.

The property of 1364 Leonard is a Catholic cemetery.
